○授業のテーマと目標
This course has two objectives:
-- to examine, from the legal perspective, several basic questions related to contemporary international relations; and
-- to develop techniques of presentation and discussion in English.

○授業内容の要旨と授業計画
A basic introductory seminar, designed to better acquaint students with the substance and nature of international law through discussions and debates in English.

Participants are supposed, though not strictly required, to enroll on "Kokusaiho Gairon (General Course on International Law)" in parallel with this seminar. Topics dealt with in "Kokusaiho Gairon" will be the subjects of discussion in the seminar.

　-- 鈴木孝夫『日本人はなぜ英語ができないか』（岩波新書、1999年）
　-- 斎藤兆史『英語達人塾』（中公新書、2003年）

　Relevant documents will be distributed in the class.

○履修上の注意
Although the "official" language in the class is English, this is NOT a language course. The lecturer will encourage and help students to discuss and explain questions related to international law in English, but will not teach English.

○成績評価方法
Participation in the class discussion: 50%
Final Examination (oral): 50%

You passed the entrance exam for Kobe University. That means that you know English very well. Why don't you, then, try to "use" your fabulous English? And if you use it, why not do so in an academic way?
